About the workshop
Join us for an inspiring and supportive workshop led by local artist Richard Burton, who studied at The Slade and the Royal College of Art, and currently teaches at the Royal Drawing School.
This one-day workshop is designed to sharpen your observational skills and deepen your understanding of portrait drawing. You’ll work from two clothed models (male and female) throughout the day.
What we’ll cover
- Understanding proportion
• Short exercises focusing on individual facial features
• Capturing likeness and character
• The relationship between line and shading
• Creating a balance between light and shadow
• Art historical references throughout
What to expect
- 5 hours of tutor-led drawing
• 2 models (male and female)
• All materials provided (see below)
• A series of structured exercises alongside longer drawing sessions
• 1-hour lunch break (lunch not provided)
